Driver’s Permit

By Ryan, October 7, 2005

Today, Nathan (my friend) showed me his newly acquired permit. Even though I asked to see it, he seemed very excited about having it. Of course, you can’t blame him; he can drive now, as long as his mom or dad is in the front seat.
But in a few months, the excitment will have worn off completely. He’ll be used to having the freedom of driving wherever mom says he can, and after a while he won’t need his mom to be with him. He can go on his own.
Are we like this in our spiritual lives? Excited when we first join the family, but we don’t show His joy after a while. We should hold onto our joy forever, and not call people gay for the most retarded things. (You know who you are...)
